![]() Not exactly sure what the song is talking about. It's not that often that you see classic muscle cars in music videos anymore. The new album will be released soon, you can pre-order through our store! The cars are awesome. The video has a Mad Max kind of theme going on. Engine size? The car is badged as a 327 small block chevy (note the close up near the end of the video). Is the floor shifter a fake or was the column shifter just left for nostalgia? If you look closely, the column shifter appears to be in the park position. If you look up at the steering wheel, you can see a column shifter as well. In one part of the clip, Bruce reaches down to grab floor shifter knob. I found something a little confusing with the shifter. The wheels look like American Racing 200S, classic style. The paint color resembles candy apple red. One last note, the Camaro front-fender scripts appear and disappear throughout the video. The scoop is sitting on top of a cowl induction hood. It's debatable if the blower scoop is functional or if it's just there for looks. If it's a true Camaro SS, it should have either 396 V8 or a 350 V8 engine under the hood. It's got the factory rally wheels with center caps. There's a star on the door with the bullet holes and rub marks, very rough looking. The front emblem was replaced with a "Stylo" emblem. The Camaro is badged on the tail panel as an 1969 Camaro SS, painted black with a white vinyl top. The chase ends with the crew running off a cliff into the water, where the car turns into a shark. ![]() Some nitrous effects are used and they escape only for Bruce Willis to catch up again later. The chase goes on as Bruce's El Camino pushes Murdoc harder. He successfully shoots out the back window and driver side mirror. Bruce Willis starts chasing down the group and tries to gun them down. Things are fine for the moment, till they pass Bruce Wills in a 1968 El Camino. Noodle-bot manages to shoot at the cop till the cop runs off the road and crashes through a billboard (very Dukes of Hazzard like). They're being chased down by a cop in hot pursuit. ![]() But this video starts out with the gang racing through the desert in a 1969 Camaro SS. I'm not currently up to date with what's going on in the story, other than the fact their escaping to an island. Let's talk about the video.Įach Gorillaz video tells a part in a never ending story. It's a very interesting concept to say the least. The actual musical performers vary from song to song. It's members are Russel, 2D, Murdoc and Noddle. Gorillaz are a virtual band created after comic book series Tank Girl. ![]() For those who are not familiar with Gorillaz, let me give you a short introduction. The new video is to help promote their upcoming album, Plastic Beach. Not to mention a surprising special guest. As far as wagons go, this Chevelle may easily be able to match any SS 396 at the traffic light drag strip.Just this last week, Gorillaz released a new music video featuring some cool muscle cars. The odometer reads 80,000 miles and it’s on its second time around the dial. The interior has had a makeover, with new upholstery, per the seller. And some of the side trim is no longer present. The body looks okay, but the black (?) paint looks to be an older finish, a likely respray. Also, the “high-rise” floor gear shifter is not something that would have been stock in a ’68 Chevelle. While they could be original, we’re guessing the drivetrain components are replacements for something that was once more sedate in the performance department. This wagon sports a rebuilt 396 V8 and a 4-speed manual, typically reserved for the Chevelle SS 396 and not a “Family Truckster” like this. Also, we’re told this is a 1969 model, but the front end and steering wheel are all from 1968. The seller’s wagon is one of these, but there’s no indication which one this is and we can’t make out any badging. Those choices, from basic to upscale, were the Nomad, Nomad Custom, Malibu, and Concours. The softer styling saw production exceed 464,000 units, including four station wagons that came with six-passenger seating (nine-passenger was also available). Located in Creswell, Oregon, this performance coach is available here on craigslist for $10,000 OBO (thanks for the tip, Rocco B.).Īll of GM’s intermediates were redesigned in 1968, including the Chevelle. This second-generation 1968 Chevelle wagon would be an ordinary people mover if it didn’t have a 396 cubic inch V8 under the hood. Chevrolet would follow two years later with the Chevelle, which ironically had similar dimensions as the 1957 Bel Airs. Ford was perhaps the first to respond by creating a mid-size or intermediate series of automobiles, shifting the Fairlane nameplate to that duty. With the advent of the compact market segment in the late 1950s, a gap between the new smaller cars and Detroit’s full-size transports quickly developed.
